Honigum-Light

High precision correction-impression material
Honigum-Light is an innovative correction-impression material combining excellent flow properties with exceptional stability.
As a light-bodied material Honigum-Light is well suited for correction and double mixing impressions and can be combined with Honigum-Heavy or the Honigum-Putty materials.
For its superior product characteristics Honigum received the best »clinical ratings« of all tested VPS materials from the noted »The Dental Advisor«.*
*Elastomeric Impression Materials. The Dental Advisor 2006; 23 (3): 1-7.
DMG-developed cleverness: the rheologically active matrix
The rheologically active matrix allows for flexible behavior in a material’s viscosity. That means: To be stable or flowable depending on the situation. Honigum-Light offers this capacity in an unique manner.
Outstanding stability in the tray and intraorally
At low shear stress Honigum-Light exhibits significantly higher values as competitive materials (see graphic) thus proving its high stability. The material remains at the area where it was applied without running or dripping.
Low shear stress
= high viscosity
= extraordinary stability
Outstanding flow properties
Under shear stress (e. g. when inserting the tray into the mouth) the viscosity properties change and Honigum-Light overcomes the alleged opposites: the initially stable material flows below the preparation line and thus provides a perfect detail reproduction
High shear stress
= low viscosity
= outstanding flow properties
This quantum leap in the union of seemingly incompatible property profiles – exceptional stability and extreme flowability – is illustrated in the two graphics*.

-
- Tooth friendly filling by infiltration- No drilling needed
- Gentle therapy approach for difficult- Toreach proximal lesions in just a few steps
- No unnecessary loss of healthy hard tissue
- Prolongs the life expectancy of the tooth
Tips from the practice
1. Exact diagnosis with bitewing x-rays
- Make use of bitewing x-rays for early diagnosis of proximal lesions
- Check the necessity of x-ray images in advance, for example through the use of fiber-optic transillumination devices
- A helpful accessory for these x-rays is the DMG Icon X-ray Holder System. It makes it possible to take multiple images in the same reproducible position, even over several sessions, and therefore simplifies the diagnosis and evaluation of the therapy’s success
2. Gentle tooth separation step by step
- It is best to proceed slowly with the tooth separation, a bit like stretching out a muscle. The tissue has to respond to the increase in pressure
- Guide the wedge into the interdental space until resistance is felt. The patient will experience this as a light pressure
- Hold the wedge in position for several seconds
- Softly push the wedge further until the widest part of the wedge creates enough separation between the teeth
3. Documentation in patient records
- Icon is not radiopaque
- This is because certain filler materials are necessary to make it radiopaque. These materials negatively affect the infiltrant’s flow properties and therefore its penetrative ability
- In order to document the procedure properly, the patient card included in every package should be marked and filed appropriately

- Gentle method for counteracting cariogenic white spots – with an esthetic side effect
- No unnecessary loss of healthy hard tissue
- User-friendly and patient-friendly application process in only one sitting
Tips from the practice
1. Re-etching »older« inactive white spots
- You can etch multiple times if there is a very thick pseudo-intact surface layer
- If the white discoloration disappears within a few seconds when ethanol (Icon-Dry) is applied, then it is sufficiently etched
- If the opaque discoloration remains, then the etching process should be repeated
- Up to three etching steps for two minutes per lesion are possible
2. Before/after documentation
- Optimize your patient communication process by taking before and after pictures
- These photos give your patients definitive proof about the success of the treatment
3. Fluorosis and other white spots
- Even non-cariogenic enamel changes can be treated with Icon.
- Experiences in practice show: Patients with fluorosis can be successfully treated, where it has proved useful to repeat the etching steps multiple times. Awaiting confirmation from clinical studies
- Enamel changes caused by trauma have been successfully treated. Awaiting confirmation from clinical studies

Ionosit-Baseliner is the »stress breaker« among the dental materials. This light curing active baseliner is the ideal one-component underfilling material for composite restorations. Instructions for Use
Its active chemistry compensates for the shrinkage typical with composite fillings, prevents marginal gap formations, and, with that, minimizes postoperative sensitivities, microfractures and secondary caries.
The material is radiopaque, provides fluoride release, and, due to its zinc content, has antibacterial properties.
Ionosit-Baseliner – for stress-free restorations.
Packing:
3 x 0.33g Saferinge
